You can sell Antique Appliances Internet, right?
When John Jowers went to work as a team parent company, never thought it would to refrigerators additional activity antiques restoration business. But today, his "cool" devices for doing business hot on the web.
Those of us who are, to put it politely, listening from May to remember a time when the refrigerator is not just a big rectangular box in the kitchen.
It was a sleek, streamlined piece of industrial art. A Philco or Frigidaire seemed to have been designed with an artistic flair as a '57 Chevy.
You may still remember the old generator from GE refrigerator in the house of the grandmother. Those were the days!
In Clayton Georgia, a town in the Appalachian foothills one and a half outside of Atlanta, John Jowers did well to keep a piece of Americana life.
John and his team of former industry expanded Appliances appliances from his father, originally established in 1958, complete restoration of refrigerators and stoves vintage for a growing number of customers who dream only the style and nostalgia of an era.
Clayton is a resort, and travel to the base population drastically from winter to summer. And although never thought about restoring vintage aircraft, John knew he had to find a way to build your Sellers and his team kept busy during the season low.
"In the winter months, keeping employees on board and occupied. A couple of guys approached me and said, 'Hey, there's an old refrigerator in the back of the store. Do you mind if the red paint? 'And I said, if he keeps busy, Go! "
"We put in our windshield, as part of an exhibition of Christmas, and suddenly someone wanted to buy!
Once he was gone, the phone began to ring Off The Hook – All Everyone wanted to know where the red bar was gone! So I started making unique pieces for the local population. We played for a couple of years, and someone convinced me that there was really a market for what we were doing, so I decided to build a website. "
"I am confident on the Internet. Without it, there would be no trade of antiquities. "
"If I was trying to sell these objects within a radius of 100 miles, which simply are not enough potential customers want these products or have money to spend to make a viable business. 98% of the business I do with old appliances comes from the Internet. "
Their renewed stoves and refrigerators have found homes across the country and beyond.
"Very few of our customers are in our region in general. We keep a card in the office and that each people PEG or we ship, and when you look at the map, most of the customers were in New England. Even if you have something delivered to nearly all U.S. states at this point, the Midwest and Northeast have been our main areas of demand.
He believes that much of its success, both online and off, from the fact that it offers a truly unique service. Antique White is the only U.S. company specializing in the restoration of old refrigerators, and one of the few that restores Vintage electric stoves.
Many companies are being restored stoves gas in the U.S. as a gas is fairly easy to repair and restore-no wires, no moving parts, no chemicals involved. Electric stoves, however, are more complicated, a thorough knowledge of electrical systems is necessary.
Rehabilitation of a refrigerator requires experience Feature: In addition the electrical aspect, special certification is needed to handle refrigerants and cleaning systems.
Most restorers do not have experience or equipment needed for certification. But because TV and Appliances Jowers was in the field of new aircraft sales, John had a pre-assembled team military personnel and skilled technicians.
John had no intention of taking their new aircraft sales online. While Internet sales specialized items such as old appliances are skyrocketing, the authority to approve the new inventory is steep. He knows he probably will lose money trying to compete for online sales with a large area as Sears.com and JCPenney.com.
He, however, believe that sales of new units that helped manufacturers have increasingly added a search engine that allows customers to find dealers in your area.
We have seen some sales premises were to him through GE.com and believes that this allows smaller dealers to profit without investing in building a site.
John acknowledges that when he went to college, the last thing you thought you had to do was return to the city and work in the family business. But his work experience, while in college made him realize that he really appreciates the full responsibility of customer satisfaction, which is vital for the family business, but often of secondary importance compared to the big stores.
"In adolescence, when I left the supplies with other men and there was a problem, I think, the client might address their concerns, because they knew I was the son of my father! "
"In college, I went to work part time at a center of origin home. During my first week there, I saw my boss, the deputy director of the store, make a crazy woman in a can of red paint.
I went to his office and said, 'That I was fired for saying this, but I did what I could do worse. If you gave him a can of paint, would have left the store happy, and never said a word. But believe me mad you did not give him another can of paint, and now she will leave here and tell everyone in your bridge club and her church group, and you've probably lost 12 customers in a pot of paint.
"I went home this evening and asked me what I wanted to do with my life if I could be really happy climbing somewhere in the level of the company, but did not say in customer satisfaction, which I will always give to another person. Suddenly, the family business seemed the right choice. "
