antique chairs what to do?

I am looking for a definitive source for repairing 3 chairs, to the best of my knowledge they were made between 1875-1880 and have a purposely split wooden seat that is carved to accommodate the buttocks:) tag says Phoenix chair co. sheboygan wisconsin.Table is quarter sawed with lions foot pedestals looks to be ruined with refinishing, at least it is shellac!.Chairs have a very worn finish and I do not intend to refinish, just want to disassemble re glue and shim, or should I not do anything? the value of the chairs is the deciding factor as to daily use of them.
