Has anyone gone to “The treasure hunters roadshow’?
It is advertised on a full page in newspapers. You bring in gold, silver, coins, jewelry etc. It is groups of people 3-4 who travel to cities and stay in lower priced motels for about a week. You bring in items and they tell you what they will pay for them. I was curious,so I did bring a few pieces of gold jewelry and a couple of watches. There were 2 guys and a boy. I thought their written estimate of what they would pay me was very low…less than $200. So I said no,I just wanted to see what my stuff was worth. I stood up to go. I was then offered almost $600. I said no…especially because of one item…which made me wonder about the value of the rest .– A 2 year old Movado watch only worn once…original price over $900. They offered $40 for that.
The rest was antique victorian 14kt gold and 18kt. gold jewelry and antique silver jewelry. Did I do right by saying no and leaving?
Hello, I hope this helps,
Your movado watch that you paid $900 is really only worth 1/2 if not a 1/4 what you paid for it as soon as it leaves the store. The mark up on watches/ really all jewelry is 400 to 1000%. You did do the right thing by not selling though.
Gold on the other hand, if your going to sell $800.00 per ounce is about the going rate. Here is a like market price quote as of today, I have also put other metals and they go by the same as gold so to see what they are look at gold as a guide. If you have PLATINUM…… Wow, baby SELL SELL and pay for College… lol

Gold is at this time one of the best things to have and to hold on to Expeceally now in America now that the dollar is pretty much worthless. That is why if you watch TV for any amount of time you will see a commical for a company trying to buy old & broken jewelry. The value is so high for it. on the other hand. If you do sell, and sell to the right person you could get 2 to 3 times what you paid for it 10 years ago.
Now I get to the people that are putting on the whole thing… HMMM well they are out to make as much and to give as little as possible. Lets just say I know one person and he was wearing a piece that he was sold at one event….. Man someone got ripped off….. But it is still fun to go and see what other people are selling.. You might just buy something from someone or sell to people like you and I that are there to see what our stuff is worth… That’s better in my eyes…. The people that are putting the event together are there to make money plain and simple… If you want to sell… Sell! But as you found out… First a $200 offer then to $600…… hmmm… Looks like a rip off to me….
This is not the person who’s Yahoo Acct is.. I’m her Husband but don’t have Yahoo. So if you want to respond please respond to me @ mataoboy@aol.com

Znamya (Newspaper) $78.07 Znamya (Russian:, lit. Banner) was a Saint Petersburg daily newspaper established by an ultranationalist journalist Pavel Krushevan in 1902. The newspaper was an organ of the Union of the Russian People.According to Cesare G. De Michelis in, The NonExistent Manuscript: A Study of the Protocols of the Sages of Zion (2004), the first publicly published edition of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion was in August (13 days later in September by the Gregorian Calendar) of 1903 in Znamya. The paper carried the headline The Jewish Programme to Conquer the World. But the paper purported that it was merely printing a document whose actual title, in Russian, was The Protocols of the Sessions of the World Alliance of Freemasons and of the Sages of Zion. This publication event gives the newspaper its historical notorious notability, being the first edition of the antisemitic canard.
