Visiting Raleigh?! What to do?

I have been living in Raleigh NC for about two months now and my mother is coming down the weekend of Halloween to visit. I know that Cameron Village is a good place to wander around but I am looking for some other things to do to spend some quality time together. She’s into crafty, unique, antique, fall oriented things…I’m just not totally sure what else is close by or going on…have been searching around a lot. Any ideas?

Visiting art galleries downtown may be a good start. Most are around the City Market area. Dine out at some of the nice restaurants there too.
(www.downtownraleigh.org and www.downtownraleigh.com are two good sites to use)
Lots of antique stores in downtown too, as well as in the Five Points area.
Also drive around the historic Oakwood neighborhood and look at the old Victorian houses.

NC Art Museum is probably also a good thing to try.
